“How Do You Paint Courage?” Touring exhibit

Sixteen artists found inspiration in a central theme - Courage. Kathy Brusnighan, the artist-curator, brought the artists together to create a touring exhibit of mixed media art that will inspire all who view it. The tour has been exhibited in Randolph Hospital in Ashboro, Forsyth Cancer Center. Please join us in welcoming these artists and their inspirational work. A percentage of sales goes to the charity of the artist’s choice.

Stop in at YARD Gifts in Studio F to find that special handmade gift for someone special in your life. All items are made by artist members of the Yadkin Arts Council. Fused glass jewelry, knitted wear, small paintings, mosaic pieces, woodworking, hand-dyed scarves … and so much more! Shop in your own backYARD! Hours: noon to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

Workshops:

Beautiful Windows – Jody Pounds

Cost: $175 – all tools and supplies furnished

In this workshop we will re-purpose an old ugly window into a beautiful stained glass piece using the glass-on-glass technique. Students will learn to refinish the surface frame of the window they select, and then will be introduced to glass tools. This is a three session workshop. The first is to select your window, determine your frames finish and develop your pattern.

Beginner’s Mosaics – Jody Pounds

Cost: $75 – all tools and supplies included

Learn the wonderful art of mosaics. This can be started at any time – I work with your schedule. You need to plan on 5 or 6 2-hour sessions, but it depends on the speed at which you work. When finished you will have a 12” x 12” mosaic you will be proud to call your own.

Altered Surfaces – Karen Fridy

Cost: $85 – all supplies furnished.

Create your own fabric designs with these fun techniques: rust dyeing, stamp making and stamping, discharging, and gelatin plate printing. Each student will receive 3 yards of fabric to use and may opt to bring a garment of their choice to repurpose.
